Cathays is an old area of Cardiff, in Wales, United Kingdom, established around 1875. It is a highly populated area of Cardiff with many old Victorian terraces, each individually and uniquely painted. The suburb is made up of mostly students as Cathays is close to Cardiff University and University Hospital.
The area is not completely built up, there are several parks surrounding Cathays including Gorsedd Gardens and Queen Alexandra Gardens. Other attractions include the National Museum and to keep the whole family entertained there is the Cathays Leisure Centre.
